The Song Behind Microsoft Patch Tuesday

When you look at the history of Microsoft’s Patch Tuesday, it’s important to remember that a key thing in its initial success was the role of  John Stewart‘s 1979 hit song “Gold” which topped out at number 5 on the charts.

Even in the most serious, stressful and challenging of time, mere mention of the words “When the lights go down….” could trigger an immediate response from Kevin Kean, then-director of the MSRC.

I personally found this an effective tactic to help alleviate the ambient stress and give all of us a bit of much needed levity in what were otherwise incredibly stressful times.
